Musical director,vocal coach, and composer Alex Varden was born in Latvia, USSR.

His musical career started at early age of four, and his talent has since been honed in performances throughout Europe, Asia, United States, Canada and Australia.

Prof. Varden's musical training spans 16 years that culminated in a Master of Arts in musical directing, voice, piano and composition. Besides music he also studied preventive medicine, philosophy and psychology.

After service in Soviet Army as a band leader,  Alex became a musical director at the State University of Latvia, and later a leading actor/ singer/ vocal coach at the State Operetta Theater of Latvia, and leading actor/singer at the Riga Film Studios.

In year 1982 Alex Varden immigrated to USA. For first two years he traveled all across America, Canada and Australia with his one-man musical show, but in in 1985  he settled down in sunny California.

At first he worked as an accompanist and piano teacher at the High-School for Performing Arts, but later as a musical director and  vocal coach at the Theater Department of the California State University of Los Angeles.

Now prof. Varden works at his home in West Hollywood. He composes and arranges music for commercials, film, musicals, videos, and maintains a select list of privately tutored students.

Besides teaching Alex keeps himself busy by composing and arranging music. Last year he wrote a score for an European movie "Naked". It was nominated at the British Film Festival in Los Angeles, 2009.

Together with the producer and writer of Disney's "G-Force" David James, Alex is working on animated children book "The Big-Foot Detective". Work has started also on "Alex in Underland" - a tale about a young camel who goes to Australia.

A funny gay musical "Buff & Brassy" with MENSA producer Rich Kapnick has been finished, and the CD with singer Todd Macofsky has been released.

A new musical "Out There" with stellar soprano Dale Christien, Tony awarded Bill Hutton, actor Tom Bosley, and other talents has been arranged and recorded, as well. Lets hope to see it on Broadway soon.
