Varden Music Conservatory - Maestro and his Students

Musical director,vocal coach and composer Alex Varden was born in Latvia, USSR. His musical career started at age of four, and his talent has been honed in performances throughout Europe, United States, Canada and Australia.

Prof. Varden's musical training spans 16 years that culminated in a Master of Arts in Music. Besides music Alex studied natural medicine and psychology.

Alex worked as a musical director at the State University of Latvia, and also as a leading actor and singer at the State Musical Theater of Latvia, and leading actor and singer at the Riga Film Studios.

In 1982 Alex defected to US. For first two years he traveled throughout USA, Canada and Australia with his one-man show, and then settled down in CA.

He worked as a pianist at the Los Angeles High-School of Arts, and musical director/vocal coach at the California State University of Los Angeles.

Now prof. Varden works at his home in West Hollywood. He composes and arranges music and maintains a select list of privately tutored students.

Besides teaching Alex keeps himself busy by composing and arranging music. Last year he wrote music for a new Latvian movie "Naked" that was nominated for the British Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2009.

Together with the Disney producer David James (G-Force), Alex is working on animated children book "The Big-Foot Detective" and "Alex in Underland" - a tale about a young camel who goes to Australia.

A musical "Buff & Brassy" with MENSA producer Rich Kapnick has been finished, and the CD with singer Todd Macofsky has been released, as well.

A new musical "Out There" with stellar soprano Dale Christien, Tony award winner Bill Hutton, actor Tom Bosley, and other great talents has been arranged and recorded, as well. Lets hope to see it on Broadway soon.

Alex has arranged/recorded music for musicals: Strip! Barely Legal, Millenia Madness, Little Lord Fauntleroy, Oh Brother, Vegas, & Make mine 3, 6, 9! And he just keeps on working! :)
